The New York DEC helps small and medium-sized businesses in the New York City metropolitan area and eastern New York State with all aspects of the export process. We offer both counsel and advice to firms interested in exporting for the first time or in expanding their international markets. We can also help identify sources for export financing & insurance.


The NYDEC Mentorship Program provides advice and guidance from experienced export practitioners to individuals and companies looking to start exporting or grow their export sales.

NYDEC Members and Leaders have a wide range of international business expertise. By completing the Request DEC Engagement Form, we can connect you with the right DEC member, or with other services as appropriate.

The Next Generation Micro Grant Program is offered to undergraduate and graduate students, recent graduates majoring in International Trade, International Business, Supply Chain Management, and to those who belong to a student club with focus on international business. 

NYDEC Partner Organizations also offer a broad array of great trade assistance services, which we will be happy to help you plug into.

Global New York is a program under which the DEC partners with the Empire State Development organization. It offers one-stop shopping to both foreign businesses looking to invest in New York and to local businesses that want to export globally. 

Export-U is the DEC’s free online export training and information website, offering:

  • Webinars on practical export-related topics like how to find overseas customers, how to get paid, and how to manage international trade risk.
  • Exporter’s Resource Database is a complete online library of useful material on international commerce, including over 150 downloadable publications, plus an enormous cash of other trade-related information.

We also work closely with the U.S. Commercial Service and its  Export Assistance Centers in New York, to help companies develop sales channels in new international markets.
